From 16th to 24th August 2024, four dedicated residents from the Rwanda International Institute of Ophthalmology (RIIO) achieved a significant milestone in their careers. Dr. NSHIMIYIMANA Gilbert, Dr. Valence KAVIRA MALIRO, Dr. MANIRAKIZA Eric, and Dr. IMANIRIHO Jean Damascene traveled to Zimbabwe with a shared goal: to pass the rigorous College of Ophthalmology of Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa (COECSA) fellowship exams.
Months of intense preparation and countless hours spent honing their clinical skills had led them to this moment. They tackled the exams with determination, their minds filled with the advanced ophthalmic knowledge they had absorbed at RIIO.
The all four residents passed the exams, officially becoming COECSA fellows in ophthalmology. This achievement not only marked a personal victory but also highlighted the quality of training at RIIO, reinforcing its mission to improve eye care across Rwanda and Africa.
